8th Dec Response Re WAG Submission to NSW Dept of Planning

Dear Mr Citer

Thank you for your correspondence to the Minister for Transport, about Stage 2 of the Parramatta Light Rail. I have been asked to respond to you on the Minister’s behalf. As you are aware, the NSW Government has committed $602.4 million to Stage 2 of the Parramatta Light Rail. This commitment will go towards the detailed planning process and enabling works for the delivery of a new public transport and active transport bridge connection across the Parramatta River between Wentworth Point and Melrose Park.

Planning and development work is continuing for the entire Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 alignment, including utilities and geotechnical investigations, to progress the development of the project’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which will be released for public comment by the end of this year. Further details about the bridge, its proposed location as well any potential property impacts will be identified in the EIS. You may be assured that the project team continues to work on the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 alignment and is looking to minimise impacts to residential properties where possible.

We will continue to provide project updates and the project team will also provide an update for members of the community on the design once it is confirmed. Transport for NSW will reinstate the Community and Stakeholder Reference Group as it will serve as an important platform for sharing information and seeking community views about the project. Although a date has not been set, the team will keep you and local residents informed as to when the group will be reinstated.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

Yours sincerely
